Transferring from Old HD to new

Hi, really briefly, i just want to make sure before i screw something up. I have an old 7GB drive i want to transfer(old comp, clearly) my files from to the new Hard drive. All i do is connect the IDE, add the power, transfer, and remove? Or is there something special i need to do? Thanks. :P

(Don't know if it's important or not, but my old drive has a different operating system installed on it.)

If you are wanting to copy over NON-operating sysem files then adding the old drives as a slave drive should be a piece of cake.
