CPU interface?

Ok I read about 95% of the posts regarding OCing. I down loaded that cool file about it from 1 of the post. Now in 1 of them it said to turn off cpu interface in bios. What is that...lol. the same as internal cache? I've been trying to get my fsb past 180x11 the cpu is locked. I've messed with everything but the voltages. The cpu-z thing says the cpu volts. is at 1.53, the bios says its 1.65?
The most it's ever got to was 191x11 and still boot up but games crash after about 10 min. my ram timmings are set at 2.0 -7-3-3 . I tried it with just the 1x512 to see if it was due to have 2 sizes of ram but it didn't matter. I see where other people have thier 2500 @200fsb ....lol. It's kind of fun messing with it but I'm about ready to just get a 3200. Any ideas?

the CPU interface is more or less the latency of the northbridge. when its disabled, it takes longer for the CPU to retrieve data from the northbridge....when its enabled the time decreases. try it both ways and see how it goes, ive had positive results using it both ways....but as always, your results may vary. as for your CPU not being able to reach 200FSB, you should try raising the voltage. give it a kick to 1.75V, your heatsink should be able to handle it. i wouldnt go any higher than 1.75V, as those antec CPU heatsinks arent good for high end OCing. CPUZ is also displaying your Vcore incorrectly, your BIOS is correct...your CPU is running at 1.65V. your instability is definately voltage related.

Thumbs up

I was messing with it last nite and I tryed it both ways with it disabled it took forever to boot into windows....lol. And I uped the agp buss from 66.75 to 67.0 it's now at 191x11 and seems to be holding so far,I played quake arena for 4hrs without any trouble. Aftr this I'll get 1 of those test programs and do it right. Also going to order a better HS maybe a better fan,I got that antec HS at flea market new for $5 figured it was better than stock....lol.Also question about my ram,the 512stick is at 2.5-3 2 6 but the 2x256 is 3-3-3-8 should I set the 512 so they are all the same?(thats by the cpu-z) even tho all 3 slots are full it still reads as duel channel. I may be better off getting another 512 stick and save the 256 in case I burn it up....lol. Thanks for your help of all the sites I've been to you guys are the best, at least you all don't make people seem stupid just because they don't know stuff.

you should set your memory timings to 3-3-3-8, or raise your VDIMM voltage as high as it will go, your board should go to 2.8 or 2.9V. crank it up, that memory could do about 3.4V safely. also, you should put your 256MB sticks in slots 1 and 2 and your 512MB stick in slot 3. its harder to OC the FSB when all 3 memory slots are populated because it puts more stress on the northbridge. if you had only 2 of them populated it would be a bit easier for you to attain the FSB speed youre looking for. also...is your processor locked or unlocked? an easy way to find out is to simply raise or lower the multiplier in the BIOS and see if it a) boots, or b) still boots at the default multi of 11x. the locked 2500+ chips most times need much more voltage to do 200 x 11. ive seen some requiring in excess of 1.9V to get that far. test it out and report back .

Ok 1st the cpu is locked. I ran the memtest and got 2 errors before it went to 100% so I reset the timmings to 3-8-3-3 and ran test over untill it hit 650% with no errors I then set the vcore to 1.7v just to see if it would boot up,(I'm ordering a better HS&fan tommarrow) Ok with it set as follows 200x11
3-8-3-3, agp bus at 67.0mhz, agp 1.56v the ram was set on auto. It booted up into windows but after typeing in my password and hitting enter it just restarted sys. so I stopped and backed it off.
I belive you are right about the ram,I'll remove the 512 and try it with the 2x256 in duel channel it has the lowest defualt values(2.5-8-3-3) and rasie it to the highest volts.(2.6 or 2.7)and see how it goes.I've had this thing on steady for 12 hrs now and the highest cpu temp was 47/sys. temp 39/room temp 92F. so with a better HS I should be ok with 1.7v.Should I also get a better HS for the chipset on the board?

you shouldnt need better cooling for the motherboard. if you plan on running for some serious FSB like i have going on then youll need it for sure .

Ok I think I've got it heres what I have 200x11@1.75v ddr volts. at highest setting 2.65v. ddr 2x256 timming at spd@2.5-8-3-3 so far it's been running for 2hrs....lol. sys temp 34 cpu 42.5/43. room temp 83f I'll run that memtest program tonite or tommarrow I've had this thing on since 9am....lol. Now the cpu voltages read 1.74v in bios....but the motherboard program silent tek has it bounceing from 1.66/1.68. I will wait untill I see what it does before I try any games. I guess I should find a program to test it with I started downloading that 3dmark untill I saw it was 285mb dail up sucks....lol. I'll go to liburary and use thier computer and get it. Thanks again for all your help. This is my 1st build and I've learned alot. Beats the heck out of watching T.V.

Well it's now 4:30 am ....lol. I had evrything going good then I just had to give Quake a try. It ran like a bat out of hell for about 1hr or so then it crashed....lol. The temps where about 47cpu so that wasn't a problem, I checked the logs (that blue screen don't stay up long enough to read it.) And I got 3 app. errors saying "machine popup...event 26 ntdll.dll....status hard log error. another said machine check regs then event 26. I checked out microsoft site and it said something about that being fixed with sp2.I installed sp2 but then it started crashing even more.....lol....got to love bill gates's boys.so heres what I'm doing next...1st. get a good mobo......2800mp cpu and 500w PS. & 1more stick 512 ram. And do this right. If I have to pull it apart to change HS may as well just do it You can't make a vette from VW, besides my wife needs something new to gripe about other than how much I smoke.

And last but not least since tim the tool man taylor is my hero a Vantec Van-520a PS. "MORE POWER" I read Tin's post about PSU's and I looked for the 1 with the best amps(?) on the rails. I know there is better ones out there but for the price it will work.$240 for all 3 parts and free 2nd day shipping.Let you know how it goes.
