Windows not booting after bios update
Hey guys,
So... i was wokring on a computer setting up dual video cards. It was working good but i noticed a few odities with it, like one of the cards had strange curruptions on the screen during boot up, and the computer wouldnt show the post screen on any monitor, only on the tv up, right up until it displayed the raid drivers then it would show up on the primary monitor. I also noticed that with this new vid card installed (by new i mean an old riva 128 i found), it made the post exceptionaly slow and also made the award preboot loader screen appear. So i decided to flash the bios. Bios flash went fine, but now the computer will come up to the screen, Windows xp didnt boot properly.. blah blah, so i try safe mode and normal more and everything, but every time, before the loading screen even appears, the computer reboots. Now im sure if I run a windows xp reinstall/repair, that it will work. But its a hastle to run the windows xp disc because the raid drivers still have bugs with the xp install (i had to install 2k first and upgrade thru windows). sorry for writing such a long book, but i figured I should describe everything, thanx, jay |

Try clearing the CMOS first.

when i first finished flashing the bios, i couldnt get the pc to post. I ended up taking out all the gfx cards i put in and cleared the cmos and tried booting again. The pc eventually worked after i cleared the cmos a second time and put the agp video card back in.
