Why does my third memory stick not work?

My system is listed below and I can't get a third stick of Elixir 256MB PC3200 memory (I already have 2 sticks of identical memory) to work in my machine.

Forget any ideas of changing BIOS settings as when I power up the computer it just sits there with the hard drive light on doing not much else, the monitor is blank and I don't even get the customary 'beep'.

Changed the memory sticks around without any luck. The newly bought memory is fine though because I've tested it with just the two memory sticks.

Any ideas?

What brand of RAM was already in your system?

Are you sure the Elixir RAM is compatible with that motherboard? You can check at the ASUS web site to see if that brand and speed is listed in the compatibility list.

And some brands of RAM don't work well with others. Did you try the Elixir by itself?
