Question about changing heatsink on video card!!
I have been looking for a fan and heatsink to replace the original heatsink on my video card. I was wondering if this fan is compatible with my video card. I would also like to ask how I would go about installing this new fan. Feel free to make suggestions on any other video card coolers that are really good!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, that cooler is compatible with all Radeon video cards. Also, any of these Zalman coolers are good.

The ATI card should have a layer of thermal paste inbetween the sink and the chip. After you pull the sink/fan off you'll need to scrape away the thermal paste. I'd use a business card or something non-mental. Once most of it is removed you can use acetone and any type of cloth to remove the residue.
That kit will come with its own thermal paste which you'll need to apply. Business card works again. The directions should tell you to spread it think and evenly before mounting the sink. P.S. - Newegg has it for a whopping 84 cents cheaper after shipping. ![]() That look like a pretty good cooler for the price. Arctic cooling and Zalman can give you more for a little more money. |
