installing new HD
Hello. I bought a new HD a few days ago, and I would like you help installing. I had trouble installing the HD before. My computer got messed up and lost its O/S. Gladly, I was able to find a way to recover my data. Now, I would like to retry installing this HD. Can you help me? Anything I should watch for? Like BIOS options, etc.?
Also: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?p=811781 Could that have been a spyware or virus, and not because of a faulty installation? |

Are you just asking how to install the hard drive into your case?
All you have to do is find an empty 3.5" bay, and screw it in. Take the IDE or SATA cable from the old hard drive and plug it into the the new hard drive. If it is the only hard drive and is IDE, set the jumper to master. It should automatically show up in the BIOS.

It sounds like a problem with your hard drive. You might have to get a new one and recover what yo can from the old one.
