smart media card help!
hello everyone. I am really in a pickle and i really hope someone can help me out. Here is what happened.....I was in mexico for the last week taking picture on my 128Mb Smart Media card (using my fuji finepix 2600 zoom camera) I went on a tour through the resorts tour company, when i got back I was talking to the guy who sent us on the tour and we were talking about all the great pics i got. He wanted to keep some so he could use them for promo shots, i said what the hell. Anyways he pulled out his (USB connected) flash card reader and we plugged in my card, looked at all the pictures i had took, then he copied and pasted some onto his computer. After doing that he again showed me the pictures on my card (i think to basically show me he didn't erase any) and proceded to remove the card and give it back. So now I am home and when i plug my card into either my camera, my flash reader (built into my floppy) or my printers flash reader, it comes up saying it's the wrong format and i cannot access any pics!
Now here is some more insight....a few months ago i put some pictures onto my smart media card from my computer in order to bring them into get printed...when i did that my camera would not read the card, but i could still see the pics through a computer..this is kinda the same thing happening. Also one time not long ago i had my card in my flash reader on my computer and i formatted it, when i plugged it back into my camera it came up with a card error, when i formatted it on the camera it went back to normal. I know the pictures are on there because i kept a close eye on what he was doing, and like i said he showed me right before he handed me the card back. So what i am wondering, or i guess what i mean is, the only logical thing that could have happened is that when he put the card onto his computer, it assigned a format to it(?) and now i cannot access them. If you have any idea on what i can do it would be greatly greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

You are quite welcome. Now, can you reformat the card in the camera and get it working again?

not really, it is always recommemded to do the format with the camera and not the pc. because it won't work the other way.

Be very careful - there are some media card/camera combinations out there that if you reformat the card in the computer, it will NEVER work in the camera again. Always reformat in the camera, not the computer.
