Smoke Machine

I know this probably is a strange question, but I don't know much about smoke machines. I would like to know if it would be possibly to get a small smoke machine working inside my case (it would look very good among split look, UV reactive components, and CCFLs) without damaging various components? I am not sure what compounds smoke machines use and how/if they produce much condensation, even with four case fans.

Thanks!

Good questions... I had a smoke machine and I know someone that has one... I assume since both use a liquid to create the smoke that there would be some sort of condensation... residual from the smoke is also a conscern.

I dont know but I think I'll look around...

I wonder if they even make something small enough to fit in a case.

You might have to put the smoke machine outside the case and use a fan or something to get the smoke from it to the cse. As far as i know, its safe to use by electronics. I was going to use it to see how the airflow was in my case but never got around to getting one.

Last i read it safe to put it near electronics but not right up against where the smoke comes out because thats where the majority of the condensation is.

Yeah put it by the case.
Or like already mentioned, dry ice. This would be better because it looks like smoke, has no condensation, would be great for cooling as well.

There you go I suppose. If you want to spend over 1200. The others I found are the ones I'm already familiar with.. and good luck fitting one in a case. 6x7x12 (inches) is what Best Buy calls a "Mini Fog Machine".

I suppose if you have a front intake fan and a speed controller you could place the fog machine so it blows the smoke at the front of your case. If the rpms on the fan or low enough you should be able to suck it in without disipating it. I have a broken generic 80 mm fan that spins so slow you can poke a pencil in and out without hitting a blade if your quick enough).

However... I still think its a bad idea. They require a liquid or what they call "fog juice" to create the smoke. Condensation and pc internals isn't something I'd like to play around with.

Besides... if you have 4 cases running in the machine it would swirl the fog so quickly I doubt you'd get the desired effect.

Personally I'd steer clear of using a smoke machine near (especailly not in a PC) working as a club DJ for several years we were always cleaning gunge out of intelligent lighting equipment where fog had got pulled in through the case fans, highly concentrated it can leave a sticky residue. Plus it stinks and makes the room stink.

I think maybe it CO2 that has been condensed and frozen

PS mix well with water for best effect
