DVD problem
I am not sure what is the problem, here is the problem
DVD-RW: TDK 1616N Tried burning files(fill the capacity) on to a smartbuy DVD+r 8X, after 10% read, nero start smart said that I had an error, could not burn at 8X. The dvd clearly said 8 times, so I am left with a useless 119mb data which I could not open considering the files are 150+mb each. Then I tried another disc, same brand, same files, but I disale multi session, speed of burning at 6X, and I still got the same problem as above. But now I have 600mb+ of useless data the first time I got the error, the DVD when nuts, and I could only read cd's in the dvd writer. I don't know whats wrong. Here is the error log of the second burn Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0001), size=45056 bytes, created 8/14/2002 3:03:36 PM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.68, size=160016 bytes, created 7/28/2004 4:51:12 PM Nero version: 6.6.0.0 (Nero Express) Recorder: Adapter driver: Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: Adapter driver: === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST3120026A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : ST380021A atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SONY CD-RW CRX175A1 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : TDK DVDRW1616N atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : Promise 1+0 Stripe/RAID01.10 fasttx2k Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off DiskPeripheral : Promise 1+0 Stripe/RAID01.10 fasttx2k Port 2 ID 1 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === SONY CD-RW CRX175A1 G: CDRom0 TDK DVDRW1616N H: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1535MB (1572324kB) Free physical memory: 849MB (869948kB) Memory in use : 44 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 20.11.2004 ISO compilation 7:05:20 PM #1 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6170 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 7:05:20 PM #2 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 5379 Booktype counter: 500, Booktype selected in EEPROM, command version 2 7:05:20 PM #3 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 5379 Booktype counter: 500, Booktype selected in EEPROM, command version 2 7:05:20 PM #4 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 7:05:20 PM #5 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer TDK DVDRW1616N running 7:05:20 PM #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3286 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 7:05:20 PM #7 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3119 Turn on Disc-at-once, using DVD media 7:05:20 PM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 256 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2294335 (509:51.10, 4481MB) 7:05:20 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 268 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 7:05:20 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2310 Recorder: TDK DVDRW1616N, Media type: DVD+R 7:05:20 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 430 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 7:05:20 PM #12 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 844 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2294336 (2294336) = #2294336/509:51.11 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2294336 blocks [TDK DVDRW1616N] -------------------------------------------------------------- 7:05:21 PM #13 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1045 Prepare recorder [TDK DVDRW1616N] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; I think this should be DVD-RW 2. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...earn/error.jpg 3. Firmware was 2.78. Flashed to 2.c8 Because the 1st DVD(119mb) is a open cd, I tried to burn files on it again, even though I will not get 4.7gb. Just around 10% of the burn process, everything failed again. like the case before, so I think there is a problem

I tried a Duraplus CD-rw 10x, i manage to burn a full cd content, but when verification, it says that data failed to verify. the verification problem occurs at the end of the process.
Could twisted IDE cables be the problem? I bend the cables so that the insides look neat. This problem occurs after 1 week of not using the pc. Just got back from holiday, and the pc's messed up. The pc is locked up, so no one could open it/use it. Not sure if the pc was tumbled down by the cats. A person comes during the holidays to make sure the house is ok Well the problem of the dvd-rw showing up as CD-DRIVE is back again when I open explorer. I think that is my problem, though I don't know what/hot to fix it. Anyone knows how to fix this Last edited by mystvearn; 11-21-2004 at 07:26 AM. |

That's still pointing towards bad or incompatible media.
Is DMA enabled on all your IDE controllers? |

Autorun on. I have burned 10 DVD's of the same brand before, and its ok, the problem started when I tried burning another DVD, but I made it multisession. Someone said don't do it, so I have not done multisession again. But even though before, it read the media which was burned, but after trying it again few times, it would not read the media. I have no idea why this happens. i have wasted 3 dvd's. no point to waste more. ![]() that suppose to be DVD-RW. When I double click, says "H:\ Is not accesible, incorrect function" Last edited by mystvearn; 11-22-2004 at 09:39 AM. |

The cd-drive only changes when I place in a DVD+r media in it. Don't know why. When I place a DVD+rw/r, the DVD-RW changes to CD-DRIVE. So its reading like I have placed a cd in it. I did managed to force copy an entire disc, but even when I place a dvd+rw media, it says do you want to copy a cd

Are you sure you have NERO set for DVD and not for CD?
