Anyone got one of these acrylic cases?
I was thinking of getting one of these to mod for my next project, was just wondering if anyone else has used or has one of these Akasa cases
![]() I was sceptical as to the build quality of the case especially as it costs close to £85 and I didnt want to be disappointed with it.

the only thing I can see wrong with it is the fact that there is no shielding of any kind, that would make it suceptable to any type of outside interferance, and that could be very undesireable.
there is a good rason why computers are always in metal cases, and have shields at the rear i/o ports |

maximum pc did a review of a case close to that a while ago. they said the problems was that there was no metal for grounding and it was extremly heavy when full

I never reall considered shielding problems, I think it would still use the metal surround around the IO ports (pretty sure anyway) but other than that there is definately no shielding, would I get away with maybe earthing a few of the motherboard standoffs to aid in grounding a little?

I'll tell you right now... I did a clear case for a customer a couple of months ago... and what a giant pain in the butt building one. The cases come with gloves to wear so you don't get finger prints all over the thing, but wearing the gloves makes it difficult holding onto the parts and putting in the screws. Now the biggest nightmare... tying everything up nice and neat so the cabling doesn't look ugly... and in a clear case, there's nothing to hide the wiring behind to conceal some of the mess. And if you're going into lighting and lots of fans... thats even more wiring to deal with. Personally, while I think they look pretty.... I don't think they're worth it for the work involved and the dust that will eventually collect all over it.

I just recently built one for a customer and I did my best to change his mind. As far as ass. its straight forward and simple.I sleeved everthing and it looks great. After everthing was done I must say it looked great but it is heavy and down the line I see dust as a problem. Customer was very pleased with it so its a matter of prefeance I do believe.
