need some help on cooling fans
ok, presently I am running an AMD Athlon XP1900, I have a AthlonXP 3200 on the way. I have an AOPEN AK79D-400vn MB. a 350 watt power supply. DDR400 PC 3200 ram, a FX 5600 256 MB graphics card and a scorpio case. My question is will the fan and heatsink I have now cool the 3200 enough? I will not be overclocking the 3200. All I know about the fan is what I read off of it which is:
coolmaster A6015-40RB-3AN-PI 12v 0.23A MGT6012HR-A15 RIFLE that mean anything to anyone? and I don't know anything about the heatsink I have now, I figure I will have to buy both heatsink and fan. And the processor I have coming now doesn't come with either. And I know, should have bought one which included them. too late now. HELP!!!!!!!!! lol and if I do need one, what do I need? and I'm not too worried about noise, but I don't want something that sounds like a vacuum going beside me when I'm playing my games. lol thanks in advance Jeff |

You should use a heatsink/fan unit that is rated up to the 3200+...I'm not sure if the one you have now is or not.
If you do decide to use the current HSF, keep your eye on the CPU temps. You'll know if you need a better HSF is your system locks up or freezes a lot. But if your system runs stable, you should be fine. One thing...since that HSF has already been in use on your current CPU the fan may start to make noise as the bearings start to fail. You may want to get a replacement fan and keep it handy for when that day comes. Cricket
