Best AMD 64 motherboard?

I am wondering if I might be able to get some advice about the best AMD 64 motherboard currently available? I tried an ASUS K8V but so far I haven't been able to get through a complete XP Pro install. I keep getting messages that certain files cannot be found on the cd, but this cd has worked fine for other installs. Tried other cd players, no joy. The board was given to me after the owner got it back on an RMA, so maybe the problems are built in.

Anyway, I'd like some information about some good boards that can take some overclocking, nothing major I just want to maximize performance.

Thanks

umm what Socket type are you looking at. There's 3 socket types for AMD 64's. Anyways for Socket 939 I got an Asus A8V deluxe. I haven't really tried it in a full system yet, but its supposed to be good, and it has overclocking features

The K8V is a socket 754 motherboard.

Don't give up after trying just once. It was probably a problem with that motherboard. Asus is a good company and you should give it another try with a new board.

For Socket 754 the best motherboard is the DFI Lanparty UT 250, and for Socket 939 the best overall/stable motherboard is the ASUS A8V Deluxe. For socket 939 overclocking I'd go with the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum.

I think for Socket 754, it's Asus K8V-SE Deluxe. For Socket 939, it's the Asus A8V Deluxe.

For socket 754, the ASUS K8V Deluxe, for 939 you might want to look at nForce boards like MSI, Gigabyte. If you have the K8V, I'm assuming you have a socket 754 processor and you want to overclock it then I suggest you look at this board : ABIT K8V Pro - it's more Overclock-friendly than DFI boards

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...127-178&depa=1 you can find the ABIT board here.

What I meant was that it was more user-friendly, not that it would hit as high FSB as a DFI would. My experience is that DFI boards are better for more "advanced" overclockers.
