Hows this burner?

I`m looking into getting a dvd burner. I`ve read that NEC is good. Is this a good NEC -EXTERNAL NEC 16X DVD BURNER ND-3500A. DUAL LAYER 4X ? Thanks for any suggestions.

I've heard NEC recommended as a good brand, although more as ROM drives than burners. Plextor is regarded as top of the line, but they're expensive. Lite-On burners are a close second, and they are a great bargain. Check out www.newegg.com for selections.

The NEC 3500 is the best burner for the price right now, but why are you getting an external?

My computer is new and I figured if I were to get an external I wouldn`t void any warranty.
