Logitech Cordless Mouse Problem

I can't seem to make the mouse work under windows 2000. The mouse is detected under control panel>mouse and when I remove and put the mouse receiver on the other usb, it gets detected but again, the cursor doesn't budge. I also pressed the "connect" button on the receiver as well as use fresh batteries but it's still the same. Help.

Have you pressed the connect button on the mouse too?

Hi there - maybe my comments are nothing to do with your query. However I am about to make a new thread regarding a question I have with the Logitech Cordless Desktop LX 501. Keyboard and click optical mouse.

The connect button on my mouse is on the underneath side of the mouse. Could it be that yours is there also. Just thought I would mention.... (possibly our 2 systems are completely different)
Now off to discuss my problem.

Yeah, I have a Logitech Comfort Duo Keyboard/Mouse and the connect button on the mouse is underneath. You have to get a paperclip or something and push it. It's like the reset button on other electronic devices. Also, I was just wondering, not to intrude or anything but it is a simple question, my mouse goes through batteries like a beast. Can I use rechargable ones instead of the standard kind? I couldn't find any info on that in the manual or at the logitech website.

Can't be sure if this ties up precisely with your product but I have just found a link that might help..http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com...p_sid=gRAb5Prh

Also a small extract to start you off.
"A set of alkaline batteries should last approximately two months in an optical cordless mouse, and four to six months in keyboards and ball mice.

You are advised not to use rechargeable batteries because these are not the correct voltage (1.5 Volts). Using such batteries could cause the devices to behave unusually. Exception: Mouse MX™700 and MX™900."

Maybe this will help - hope so.

Ok. Thanks Dave, that helps. Unfortunately, it wasn't the answer I was looking for.

You can find rechargeable's that are 1.5V 1500mAh, which are the same as regular alkaline AA's. However, they're all rechargeable alkalines, from what I've seen, and require a specific charger. Most NiMH or NiCD batteries are 1.2V 1800mAh.

I have had the Logitech cordless Duo for three years now ( http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...383&pfp=SEARCH ) and Have experienced the same issues you are every time I move my computer to a new place or any other event that requires disconnection of the mouse and keyboard. First, is this a new product? If so no matter what, and I have tried to follow the instructions, I usually have to boot up with a normal wired mouse and then switch out. Second, I had to upgrade my usb ports. Are you using 1.1 or 2.0? Very chead upgrade. I just moved this weekend and had fun hooking up my cordless mouse and keyboard. I have to boot up with a regular wired keyboard and mouse then connect my logitech cordless duo. You also have to push that connect button a ton. But every one is right these cordless mouse and keyboards tear through batteries. Just try new batteries once. I had half charged batteries and no connection, switched to new batteries and connected right away. And I have been using rechargable batteries for years now. It woul get real expensive to change those things out as much they go out.

Yes it is on the bottom. It's a tiny one that you use a pen to activate. Thank you.

Does it work now? Just curious, you must use a pen to activate it? I thought the button is nearly 1cm in diameter
