Error in Writing to or Reading from a CD-RW

I have used a CD-RW for saving a years work ( unfortunately with no backup ). When saving my last file I find I cannot open the File now to read or write to it.
The error message states that an error occured on writing to or opening the File. It is very important to me and I have learn't a lesson. When in the DOS command - it indicates the name of the File and the kB associated (179) but naming the File while in DOS and pressing return gives me the same message. It is a Lotus 123 File therefore the Lotus window opens up but the Message is always the same. Can anyone suggest a method wherein I can possibly retrieve this File. Thank you.

Are you trying to open the file in Explorer? Have you tried the CD in another computer?

how, and what software did you use to write your file to the cdrw ?
was the cdrw formated first ?
why would the data still not be in the program you were using in the first place, did you delete it ?
