Maxtor external storage
Beware Maxtor external storage devices.
I am looking at three...yes...three which give me a "code 10". Tried every way to get them back. Was told by Maxtor to "throw them in the trash can....unless you want to send them somewhere...for restoring..and then they may not be able to restore all files." Costs too much. Software to do that too expensive. When the start clicking or making a strange noise...try to save the files to some other device. My suggestion... who makes an external storage device that does not fail? Better have two devices making backups of the same files. If one goes bad...you have the other one. Then...buy some other hardware maker's external storage device. Maxtor is excellent...until it fails. TWO BACKUPS of the same files.... on two devices. If anyone has had the same experience....let me know if you were able to get them working again...and how. Doug Bell (looking at Sony and Western Digital and Hitachi external storage devices. |

Instead of buying external drives like the Maxtor OneTouch, you can just buy the external housing and install your own hard drive in it.
