16 Speed Double Layer DVD Recorders Compatibility Issues
Regarding the 16 speed double layer DVD recorders that were mentioned here earlier, can the DVD double layer CDs you burn for those players be read by the 8 speed single layer 4.7gig DVD players and read by the regular DVD players like the home entertainment DVD/VCR combo players?
Also, if the 8 speed and earlier DVD/VCR combo players cannot play the double layer DVD CDs, could the 16 speed double layers still burn single layer 4.7gig CDs so that the other systems could have the compability to read DVDs you burn? |

I'm not sure I totally understand your question (my fault, its late), but from what i got, here's my answer:
1. From my understanding, Dual Layer DVDs are very widely accepted by standalone DVD players, because commercial DVDs are dual layer. If on the off-chance it doesn't work for a specific player, you can often chance the booktype setting to DVD-ROM, and it almost always will work then. 2. Yes, Dual Layer DVD writers can burn single layer disks, at any speed below what they're rated for. BTW, as far as i know, there are no drives that can burn dual layer disks at 16x. The 16x refers to (i think) the DVD+R speed mike |

yes any regular dvdrom or dvd player should red the 16x double layer dvds, and yes a 16x double layer dvd writer can burn 4.7 gb 8x speed dvds.
