Red face adding another harddrive

My computer's motherboard went, but just bought a new harddrive for it last may. I got another computer from my uncle and to my amazement the harddrive is only 10MB. Could this be a partion harddrive? How can I find that out? Also I would like to add the other harddrive to this one or even just do a way with the 10MB. The one in the computer has alot of stuff on it from my aunt so how can I get rid of that stuff? Thanks for all of your help. And do I have to make a back up disc to do this? How do you make one so I can have it just in case something goes wrong. Thanks

Are you asking if you can partition the hard drive and use it? Yes it is possible to partition it and use it in your computer. To get rid of all the data on the hard drive, you can just reformat it.

If the hard drive has files on it, it is partitioned. You can format it and check the file system from Disk Management in Windows.

I would set up the larger hard drive as the master, and then put this on as the slave. You may have to change the jumpers on the hard drives, if you aren't using an 80 wire IDE cable.

Question

when i added the other harddrive to the old one. I looked at the settings for master and slave. well they were both set for M/S horizontally. So I put the larger one as the master and the other as a slave. Now the little block goes vertically, write? Well that's what i did and it wouldn't load reg. I don't know if I need to do more to get it to read it. I do know how to get to the bios but don't know what to do when I'm there. Could you give me step by step how to get the two drives to work.
