Adding Artic Silver
Within the next couple of days i am going to be replacing my cpu heatsink.I bought some artic cilver to go with the new heatsink and i was wondering if after i get done installing the heatsink can i use some of the leftover artic silver to put on my video card. I mean would it help any?i have an ati radeon 9600xt with the stock cooler. If i just took the stock cooler off and put some artic silver on it then put it back on would it help? Right now the temps for my video card are 29C at 500mhz and it goes up to 32C when i enable overdrive. Any help would be appreciated.

All Arctic Silver does is fill in the microscopic imperfections on the surfaces of the processor and the heatsink. Because it's made of silver, thermal transfer is supposed to be better...but I've only seen a few degrees difference between using Arctic Silver and generic thermal compound. And those GPU temps are real low to begin with. You can apply AS to the video card if you want to, but I don't think you'll see much of a difference.
