My new PC has been getting a number of problems over the past few days...
The first I noticed was problems with reading CDs. I've tried installing two different games on this PC, but both gave "Cannot find file specified- Scratched/dirty CD" errors. But both of these games work perfectly on my laptop, and the CD's are in perfect condition. I also have the same problems with everything I download- I tried installing WinZip but got the same error every time, even from multiple download sites. This PC was built from a few older parts, mainly the hard drive and the CD drive... I'm thinking they're either too old to function or just incompatible with the rest of the system. Also, the PC was built with a 160 GB hard drive, but it's not showing anywhere. It's as if it doesn't exist or something... Gah, so many problems... Please help

Post the complete system specs by brand and model and the operating system you're using.
Have you tried the CD-ROM drive in another computer yet? If it does the same thing there, it's broken. Has the 160GB hard drive been partitioned and formatted yet? |
