Unfortunately...I was retarded and let a cable slide into my CPU Fan blades and "Pop Pop!" a couple of the fins on the cpu fan popped off...can i just replace that whole fan...heat sink module?

Do I replace just the fan?

The whole heat sink and fan?

And when I removed the heat sink and fan there was some sort of grayish glue like stuff on the chip...is that from the chip or heat sink..and do i need that?

Anyone got a link to one that I can buy?

thats not too serious of a problem to fix.
its just a matter of replaceing the heatsinkfan assembly, you can get a new one from newegg.com
remove the old fan and heatsink assembly, clean off the old compound with a soft rag and acholol and place a small amount of artic silver on the cpu, and install the new heatsink and fan assembly.

The stock Intel P4 heatsink fan is a sort of intergrated affair and you can't replace the fan with a standard item. I've seen replacement fan/top sections somewhere, but I don't recall where. You can replace the whole heatsink fan unit if you want to.

That's the thermal pad. It help with thermal transfer between the CPU and heatsink.

I can only say that I have always used the stock units and they perform very well for me, nice and cool. I have never seen any need for anything bigger.
