New CPU Fan and Heat Sink
I just started to build my new pc and I messed up a bit...now i'm not sure how I can fix it...

Do I replace just the fan? The whole heat sink and fan? And when I removed the heat sink and fan there was some sort of grayish glue like stuff on the chip...is that from the chip or heat sink..and do i need that? Anyone got a link to one that I can buy? |

thats not too serious of a problem to fix.
its just a matter of replaceing the heatsinkfan assembly, you can get a new one from newegg.com remove the old fan and heatsink assembly, clean off the old compound with a soft rag and acholol and place a small amount of artic silver on the cpu, and install the new heatsink and fan assembly. |

I looked on newegg...I'm not sure what ones are good for my processor...can someone post me up a couple links/suggestions.

you want to get the oem, intell heatsink and fan assembly.
I didn't look, but they should have it. |

I can only say that I have always used the stock units and they perform very well for me, nice and cool. I have never seen any need for anything bigger.
