AMD Athlon XP 1900+ CPU heatsink
Hi, I'm using an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ Processor Recently while using my machine the cpu fan died and the system shuts down after a while, because I'm guessing the CPU heats up (duh!!!) I want to buy a new CPU fan for this CPU but I'm unsure which one to get. The current fan it is using is EVERFLOW DC Fan & DC Motor Model: R126010DU DC 12V 0.40 AMP I measured this fan and it was 6cm x 6cm - All the fans that I saw on Newegg and such were 80mm / 90mm fans - Am I looking at the wrong kind of fan? Can I get these 80mm fans and attach an adaptor to the CPU heatsink? HELP? I'm not making sense anymore! I'm not really all that into super modding and cooling and all. I want to buy a replacement fan but would like to know if there is any other better fan you can suggest for this processor that is better. I don't have time to do any fancy adjustments because im in the middle of a project. Just would like the exact link to which fan should I buy. I desperately need help and need to get a fan I can snap in like this one really quickly. Please post a link to the exact fan I need for this CPU if you can. Links to the general website helps but I'm not very tech savvy and not sure which one to get. PLEASE HELP all the mod gurus out there. BIG Thanks in advance. -themiragemaker. Found this one... says its for XP 1900+
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...182-016&DEPA=0 Does this work or should I get something better. If there is something better, I would like to go in for that. I also found this one... http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...150-042&depa=0 This is the same except for the dimensions of the heatsink. Not sure if it works for my Athlon XP 1900+. Please tell me. Also do I need to measure the heatsink and make sure even that is exactly the same as the one I have now? Can I simply change the fan and leave the heatsink as is, or is that a bad thing? Someone help! Last edited by themiragemaker; 12-30-2004 at 01:22 PM. |

If the fan is the same size and has the 3 wire leads, should be able to remove the old fan and remount the new one. The one thing to look for is the dBa sound rating, the lower the #, the quieter the fan.

The Speeze WhisperRock is a very good heatsink/fan unit. Cools well and runs quiet.
This 60mm Antec fan should be a direct replacement for the fan on your current heatsink. Are you sure it's the fan that died and not the motherboard CPU fan header? Cricket
