SATA drive missing in manager

Hey guys,

I am trying to install a SATA drive using the 7 pin data cable into one of the two ports on the motherboard of my Dell Dimension 4600. I have the drive powered by the Legacy power connector and can hear it running. I also have tried the pin in each of the two ports. The discs will not show up in the disc management menu. The hitachi website does not offer any drivers for this (400 GB) SATA drive.

Any help?
Thanks so much,
Jim

If your chipset requires SATA drivers, they will be provided by the motherboard manufacturer, not the hard drive manufacturer. What motherboard are you using?

you need to donwload your mobo's SATA drivers. Not sure how easy this is since its a Dell (finding them I mean), but it should work fine after you install them
