Removable Storage on Front of PC

Hello

I currently have a Time XP2700+ PC at home and at the front as usual it has a floppy drive and underneath that it has 4 different card readers, for example one of them is for inserting your memory card from your digital camera.

In My Computer under the section for Devices with Removable Storage I have listed A: Floppy, DVD Rewriter D: and E: DVD Rom Drive. There used to be an additional 4 drives F, G, H & I for each of the card readers.

Unfortunately they have now disappeared. When I insert my memory card into the slot nothing appears to happen. To the side of these card readers is a USB port and this is connected to a hub with my modem and web cam and they are working fine. The green light to the side of the card readers is working.

I have gone into "manage" after right clicking on my computer and gone into diskmanagement and it only list on the right hand side bottom half of the screen the 3 storage devices i.e. hard drive, and the 2 DVD drives. I have also gone into device manager but cannot see them listed in their neither.

I have telephoned Time to ask for assistance and unfortunately the usual response was to use my Reload CD which wipes everything off my hard drive and return my PC back to factory settings. Naturally I do not want to do this as this will take quite a considerable time backing up all the data currently stored on my PC considering this in my opinion should easily be sorted out.

Could someone please advise me anything that I could do to get my computer to recognise the card readers without wiping everything off.

Many thanks

Mark

Open up the PC, find the cable going from the readers to the motherboard, and reseat it. You MAY have to do this with the PC powered on to get a response, be VERY CAREFUL.
