Are you able to play CD's with the drive? Does it recognize them at all?

What kind of program are you using to burn the information to disc?

Sounds to me like you are trying to burn directly from Windows Explorer? If that's the case, get a quality burning program like Sonic RecordNow DX, Nero or even EZ Whatever Its Called Now Creator.

From my experiences, the Windows XP burning system just plain sucks. I've never had it work longer than a few weeks before crapping out. Like I said, you're better off using a program like Nero -- it's more reliable.

Make sure if you are burning from windows... right click on burner ( in "my computer") and in properties... make sure you have checked " enable writing to this drive"..... that should do it
