New RAM, monitor goes into power save mode
I have been using 256mb of ram so today I put in 2 sticks of 256mb = 512mb. Now every time I power up my monitor stays in standby mode. I have to manually power the monitor off then on. When it comes on it says "monitor in power save mode, activate using pc" but I cant get it to do anything. I replaced the 2 new sticks of ram with the 2 older sticks of 128mb and the monitor comes on no problem. I went into control panel then power options and made sure nothing in there was causing a problem. Put the new ram back in and ......same problem ahhhhhhhh
anybody have any ideas besides bad ram??? thanks |

The new stick of RAM may not be compatible with that DELL. Where did you get the RAM and what brand are they?
If you want RAM that is guaranteed to work in your DELL, go to Crucial.com. Cricket
