connect laptop HD to pc

I have an old laptop hard drive that has been removed from the original laptop and I need to connect it to my desktop pc to retrieve my files. I do not intend to use this HD after I retrieve the files, so if there is a way to connect it via USB or firewire that would be great.

I've looked online for connectors but I've had no luck in figuring out what i need exactly. I'm totally clueless. If anyone knows what I need to do this please tell me!

I suggest LAN, that's usually the quickest and cheapest method, connecting via usb or firewire tends to require a little more than just the ethernet wire that LANning entails.
