(PROBLEM)
Boot up stops in the process or at the end of the PCI device listing….. This is where it stops- Bus No.Device No.Func No.Vendor ID.Device ETC. And then all it has is a blinking cursor in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. This is a Window 98 system, ASUS SP97-V mainboard, Award BIOS 4.15 Now not to muddy the waters, but let me give you the rest of the story. This system was brought to me under the following conditions: 1) Keyboard lock out error- I disabled the two wires from keylock to motherboard. 2) CMOS Checksum Error- I cleared RTC/CMOS and replaced battery. After dealing with issues 1 & 2 above I also swapped out hard drives and I still have ended up with the issue above labeled PROBLEM. I am about to disable the onboard video and seat a video card in a slot, meanwhile does anyone know what’s up or how to resolve. |

Well taking out your CMOS battery will usually screw up the BIOS if not done properly. Try reinstalling the BIOS. Good Luck

Pull all the cards and disconnect all the drives except the floppy - clear the CMOS again, and see if it will boot to a floppy.
