Tried to add second monitor, now no video

Hello. Today I purchased a PCI video card so I can have a dual monitor setup. I put it in the PCI slot, turned on the computer after plugging everything back in including the second monitor, and now there is no video at all. Both monitor screens just stay blank as if they don't recognize the computer turned on. I took out the PCI card to see if I could just get my original monitor/card to work, no luck. I took out the AGP card to see if the PCI card would work by itself, also no luck. Suggestions please!

Alright I got a single beep now (P4P800 asus board). It was booting up. I could see the BIOS if I wanted. However, it wouldn't show video after Windows (maybe it wasn't even loading it...). I tried using safe mode and last good settings, didn't work still.

Do you get video when you're in Safe Mode? If you do, go into Device Manager and remove the two video cards and reboot. Windows will find the video cards again and reinstall the drivers. See if this helps.

Alright, turns out somehow, even though I didn't touch the AGP card, it became partially unseated. That problem is solved now. I'm going to try installing the 2nd card again. Hopefully all works well.

Put your PCI video card in the first slot under the AGP. Thats what worked for me.
You should have no other kind of card in that slot.

Alright, all is well now. However, I've always had my sound card in that slot... Will that be a problem? My new card is in the 2nd PCI slot and it seems to be working fine now.

The first PCI slot (the one under the AGP slot) is usually reserved for video card use (it shares resources with the AGP slot). I would switch your sound card and PCI video card around.
