Dell Latitude C600 LCD backlight problem
I have a C600 where the backlight works sometimes and other times it does not (you can just barely see the display when it is not working). If it boots up with it on, it will stay on and never go off (even when jarring the laptop). And if it boots up off, it stays off indefinitely. If I hook up an external monitor, that always works. I was thinking it was probably not the backlight bulb, but either the inverter board or the ribbon cable. But I am wondering if it could be some other problem since the light never goes on or off once it is booted. It makes me think it could be a software problem. Has anyone had a problem like this?

Soneone has a similar problem to you in this thread http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=122416 , a repair installation of the OS and reinstallation of video drivers is mentioned.
