Bios Set Up for New Slave HD
I installed a new 40Gb hard drive in my Gateway Pentium III and set the jumpers as a slave. The drive is recognized and funtional in Device Manager but I don't get a drive letter in My Computer or Explorer. Do I need to adjust setting in the Bios? If so, what are the IDE controller settings to use?

IDE controller settings? Sorry, I've never heard of that. If you're using XP, I think there is a way of assigning the drive a letter in Disk Management, not entirely sure though.

I agree with 2 rails, you need to at least partion the drive first for windows to see it. Then format it in windows itself.
