p4c800-e dlx and xp mce2005 - stop screen

I am building a pc4c800-e Deluxe with

2 pc3200 ddr 512meg (1g total) installed as dual channel.
2 300gig sata seagate drives
ATI radeon x800
Floppy

I've tried installing the 2 drives as raid-0 on the promise controller and also tried raid-0 on the intel ichr5 controller. Both are seen by xp MCE2005, but I cannot get an install to complete.

They all die with a stop/reboot at the last step, where windows says 'Saving configuration' and 'setup restarts', asking everything again.

I've even attempted to break the raid, and use the drives seperately on the sata/ichr5 controller, same error.

The system info says that I have bios, 08.00.09 10/24/2004. I do not know how that corresponds to the bioses up on their site.

Anyone seen this or how I can get it to work?

Thanks!

More info.....

I've tried putting a p-ata drive as primary master, 40gig. Attempted install with or without drivers for the sata drives, both attempts either just hang at 'saving items' or during 'registering components'

Now this is MCE2005, not std xp home or pro.

What is going on?

Could be a software problem with MCE or a bad motherboard. Although it seems unlikely that both SATA controllers and the IDE controller wouldn't work. Any way you can get an XP SP1 or 2 install CD, or another MCE CD to try? You don't have to buy the license, just get someone's CD and see if it will install. If so, your CD is defective, if not, hardware problem.

Try doing the OS install with just 1 stick of RAM for now. If the problem returns, remove the stick and install the other.
