are all dsl modems compatible?
if i have an old dsl modem that i used to use with verizon dsl can i use it with sbc dsl now or does it have to be a modem from sbc yahoo?

I would have to say you will need a sbc modem... but you can try your old one to see.....
I have verizon and I know there different lines of modems are NOT compatable on the same signal.... each type requires its own signal

If you have a Linksys router or some such generic purchased out side of Verizon thing it will work for almost evey dsl on in the US

Your modem's MAC address is most likely part of your account with your dsl carrier. If you're looking to sign up for a new dsl account, you should check with them as to the compatibility. Some of the new dsl systems use "two wire" configurations that may use different hardware.
