Old CD-RW in a new comp?
One of my old computers recently bit the dust, so my boyfriend and I have decided to scavenge the working parts from the old one and add them to a new system. My question has to do with the CD-RW. The old comp was an HP, and so we don't have any drivers for the CD drive; and I've never transferred an old one to a new system. Do I need to search online for drivers, and put them on a floppy so that I can run it when we set up the new system? I'm kind of clueless as to this part of the process, and would like to know a general idea, at least, of how to do this.
Thanks, Leafi |

You shouldn't have any problem. Just look for the maker and model of the cdrom, and go to their website. They should have drivers listed. If they don't or you can't fid them, then just google the model number and you should be able to find them.

Nope, there exist no drivers for optical drives.
You only need to install the CD drive itself correctly, and that's it. That means, you need to set the jumper as you need it (depends on the type of cable used, and if there is a second drive on the same cable, or not). RJ
