hello forum, i'm thinking about buying an external 16x DVD burner for my laptop. My question is does it matter if i use USB2.0 or firewire (i have both) Are the speeds of both cables fast enough to keep up with the data transfers??

I highly doubt that it will be able to burn at a full 16x, that's pushing the interface. Between the 2, Firewire is more stable in my experience.

I don't know if the improvement would be worth the cost. 4x when it comes to DVD recording is not that slow, and the cost of blank media faster than 4x goes up fast - and you have the inconvenience of an external device that requires AC power.
