DVD data storage?

Can DVD's be used to burn "data" to? In other words, I can use CD's just like I did with floppies, burning .txt files, certain .exe's, and so on. I thought maybe there was some software that would let you use a DVD in the same manner? Since they hold so much more.
Thanks
B

Nero is a good program for that. Whatever came with your burner will work.
