Highest bitrate you can rip??

Just wondering how you can rip ( or whatever it's called ) a cd to your computer at the highest possible bitrate? Mine will only go up to 192 kbps. Now is this the highest a cd will go or does it depend on the cd drive of my computer? Because I've downloaded songs that have been over 300 kbps and they sound much better than 128 and even 192....

What program are you using to rip the CDs?

Depends on whether you want MP3's or Wave files.
I'm using musicmatch to rip MP's at 320kbs.
Here are some links for music match

The Newest one is here

These are the older versions

128kbps is generally accepted as "CD Quality".

Dmc rips at 320. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

Don't mean to hijack post, but if CD quality is 128kbps, will a song ripped at 320kbps sound better than at 128kbps.

Yeah a song will sound better at 320 than 128 kbps. MP3 is a lossy codec, so the higher the bitrate the better the sound will be. Again it depends on what is good enough for you and how much space you want to use. Another option is VBR mp3 which uses variable bit rates to give you better quality at the same size.

Yeah, that's right. I wasn't thinking.
