HP scanner over wireless problem since SP2

I have a favorite software for storing scanned documents that is on a Win98 box. I have a 802.11g wireless adapter card in it and have had no problems with remotely scanning over the wireless network until I downloaded SP2 on the Win XPPro box that the scanner is connected to. Now, the HP Precision Pro software says that it cannot initialize the TWAIN device. I have had aout zero luck with HP support. Keep getting a support person out of India, that this Texan just cannot understand. I did however pull the plug on the conversation when he suggested I reformat my HDD! Where do they get these folks? Anybody have workaround or suggestions?

Oh, yeah...just to save time; I have disabled the Firewall and that has not resolved my problem.
