IDE Controller Problems

I recently bought a SYBA Ultra ATA IDE Controller Card from newegg.com so I can use my PATA hard drives with the motherboard that I am going to get. I installed the card, went to boot up, but after the POST it went to a black screen and never loaded Windows. I tried moving the card to a different PCI slot but that didn't work either. Any ideas on what is wrong or do you think that it is just a defective card?

Is your boot drive on the IDE controller card? If it is, try going into the BIOS and change the first boot device to SCSI.

I don't understand that lol Why SCSI? He/she has PATA. Unless of course PATA is native to SCSI and I never knew, or maybe just something else that I'm missing.

Many bioses see PCI IDE controller cards as a SCSI device, and require that SCSI be in the boot sequence to boot from the card.

SCSI is not an option on the boot list on my mobo. Also I just decided to get a better card anyway. I got a Promise card and it is working just fine. Thanks guys.

Aaah, I see. Thanks for the insight glc I would ask why that is the case but I would be taking the thread away from it's topic, so I'll do some research on it.
