Need fan help
My girlfriend has a HP computer that didn't come with a case fan. I want to add one for her to get some air movement inside. The problem is I don't know what size will fit. The mounting hole spacing is 80mm or 3 1/8. I know the 80mm wont fit without drilling mounting holes.
Can somebody tell me the mounting hole spacing on a 90mm or 92mm fan so I can make sure it will fit before I buy one? Last edited by jonbth; 02-07-2005 at 02:59 PM. |

Does that case use a fan cage? If it does, remove it from the case and take it with you when you go to get the fan.
The spacing you mentioned...that's hole to hole, right? Not edge to edge. If it's hole to hole, it's probably takes a 92mm fan since fans are measured edge to edge. Cricket

What are the specs of that HP computer?
We use HP computers here at work (slowly being replaced by DELL's) and most have 1 80mm case fan installed but it only turns on when the room temps are warm. Most of the time they're not running at all. My work computer is a PIII 500MHz and the fan is mounted in the lower front and it's off most of the time. No exhaust fan, only the power supply fan. The back of the case has a big open grill but I don't know what purpose it serves. I haven't bought a name brand computer since 1995. Last one was a *gasp* Packard Bell...I didn't know any better at the time. Cricket
