2 Machine Fans

Well, when you overclock alot, you need alot of cooling. Conventional fans just didn't do it for me so I decided that I was going to switch over to machine shop fans =] These are straight out of a machine shop. I bought them on eBay for about 4 dollars each. I installed a rehostat from a dead Dremel I had lieing around and now I can control the speed. At full speed they alost hover so I keep them at a quiet yet very effective speed. They are zip tied to some holes in my case. Here's some pictures:

Sorry for the messy cables!

Are you sure you have those fans facing the right direction? Looks like they're blowing towards the front of the case.

Can't say I havn't though about it. I'm only 16 and money is really tight for me. When I see a bargain, like massive fans =], I kind of spontaniously buy them. Then I have tons of cooling devices hangin around and I put them to good use in my case. If I did go water cooling I would go with Thermaltake, but then everyone tells me that they're WC stuff is junk. Anything else is a little bit too pricey soooooooooo. Thus my massive fans =P

And no both fans are blowing to the back of my case.

Sweet fans tom! If I were you though, I'd spend the day getting those cables arranged. Good fans are worthless if the air just hits a wall of wiring.

I guess these fans are different...all the fans I've seen blow towards the fan motor bracing. When I saw the blue wires I thought it was the back of the fan.

But I agree with the others...you should do something about those wires, they're really impeding airflow through the case.

I love this thread. Tis by far my favorite...

I was just wondering, would it be possible to mount a radiator type thing in a case? Like have a frame with water running down it and then fans pulling air through it to cool the air down or would that be too risky?

Radiators work the opposite way from that -- the air cools the water going through. And there are similar water-cooling systems available for PCs.

Looks nice! I've always had a soft spot for the alien eyes when done right. Of course, no video or picture does justice, but I bet it looks rockin'.

I thought there was a thread on "show the insides" of your computer, but couldn't find it. No modding here... I just popped in a new PS in my system and figured I'd post a pic of my box's guts. I was going to make it neater, but with all the adapters I had to install, I said heck with it (I need, for example, 3 floppy style power connectors and the new PS had only one.)

Yea hes sure got a huge fan going on there huh......

Well here is my latest setup... I should say watercooling setup with my old pc next to it.

http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e220/spearball/

As you can see the tubing with the swiftech hydrx doesnt glow that much because i only used about 1/3 of the bottle. Some people have their tubing glowing so much cause they put a ton of UV dye but i don't have a hold of any right now and too much hydrx clogged my radiator when i first set it up. Because of that i added the blue/UV smart coils so my tubes are visible.

I'd appreciate any suggestion on how i can improve. The radiators were too big for the case with everything in it so i was forced to put them outside.

SETUP:
Athlon FX 60 3.0 GHZ Overclocked. CPU temp idle: 28-30 Load: 37-40 (Yea seems wired temps go up and down sometimes i get even lower than 28 on idle.
OCZ 4GB ram DDR400
Motherboard:A8n32 sli deluxe from asus
Video card: Dual Geforce 8800GTS 512Mb in SLI
Sound: Soundblaster fatal1ty
HDD: Seagate 500GB 7200.11 32mb cache, Western digital 250 gb
Power Supply: PC & Power cooling 750 WATT Quad
Thermaltake armor case
Water cooling setup: APOGEE cpu block, swiftech dual 120 mm radiator/and Hardware Labs Blackice GTX extreme 240, 1/2 inch tubing, smart coils, Swiftech pump MCP655, Swiftech high flow reservoir.

Welll, I thought I'd join the bandwagon. I took these pics last night, and I think they are worthy enough to post.

pic 1 with flash, for internals, pic 2 without, at night.

I've done several things to this case, and not one original fan remains. Changed the back 80mm exaust into a 120mm, added 2 80mm's in the front.

Aside from the fans, what other mods did you do to this case? Looks stock.
