What is a good way to cool a laptop?

What do you mean? if you intend on overclocking it or something, I wouldn't advise as much since there is VERY little room within a laptop to allow for much of an overclock, what with more heat often being a byproduct. Is it the bottom of the laptop that is getting to hot? Some models just run hotter, and unless the computer has a variable speed fan that you managed to turn on all the time(creates more noise, obviously) or 'underclocked' it, I don't think there is much you can do appart from sticking a pad between the laptop and you.

EDIT: Assuming the computer is running as it should and has nothing wrong with the hardware I mean. If the hardware is faulty then that could cause heat to go to some extremes for reasons beyond reason for the most part.

I think one thing you could do is not lay the laptop down on a flat surface. If possible, raise it up at the four corners so air can circulate under it. Not sure if it'll make any difference, but it couldn't hurt.

Yeah I appreciate the help everyone. I heard of those cooling fans but didn't know if that was the best thing.
