need advice, please!

Ok...I've ordered a new case and psu for my computer. Any tips for me or advice as to how I should transfer everything from my old case to my new case? I've never done this before and I'm a little nervous about doing it...Any motherboard precautions I should know...etc?
Thanks!

You want to be sure the mounting holes line up correctly to the holes on the motherboard and that they are all raised up either by using the little screw in or clip in standoffs, or are the built in to the backplane type of raised up mounting holes. That keeps the backside of the motherboard raised up and therefore not touching anything metal that would cause shorting out problems and perhaps even ruin the motherboard. Then make sure it is all mounted in good with as many of the motherboard holes utilized as possible so that when you start applying pressure to insert drive cables, processorHSF, memory and cards in agp/pci slots there is plenty of support so as not to break anything on the motherboard. You have to push pretty good on some of those to get them to seat in good. Although in your case you should be able to leave memory and processor installed but you will have to uninstall then reinstall any agp/pci cards. I actually do the processor and HSF, and memory with the motherboard out and install them, then go about the task of mounting the motherboard in the case..

Ok...I'm getting ready to do this...and I'm a little nervous! Thermaltake only gave me 4 brass standoffs for the motherboard, but there are 9 holes! Should I put the harddrives, etc..in first, or the motherboard? I've never done this before. Please help!

This should help as far as what steps you need to take, but you are not building this out of case.

HAL's Troubleshooting Guide

I will try and look for a link to help a little more as well.

Only 4 brass standoffs? That's not enough. Did they give any plastic standoffs to use so you can support the center of the motherboard?

Just found this web page...might be helpful.

Well, got everything switched over into my NEW Thermaltake case and is it ever sweet! Took me a couple of hours, and I let my bro finish up all the power connections. I've never seen so many wires in my life! Patience is the key I guess!

Congrats! I hope everything is working properly and I am glad you enjoy it!!! It wasnt so hard was it? Also, I kind of have to laugh at the fact your brother helped finish up the power connections. I believe my brother did the same for me last year when I switched cases!

Yeah, believe me, when I saw ALL those wires, the first thing I thought of was my brother! It would have taken me the whole day if he didn't help!
