Overclock limiters
Motherboard or BIOS limit whether you can overclock or not? I don't see any multiplier fields in my BIOS (ABIT VA-10 Socket A mobo/AMD XP 2100). I want to get a new CPU (XP 2800) but first want to know if I can overclock it. If I can't overclock the new CPU will installing a 17% faster CPU be a marginal improvement? Seems that DVD burning always takes up 100% CPU capacity and I would like to reduce that a bit.

overclocking limit
in thoery every processor is overclockable, you just need to know how. i have heard god things about the xp2800+. With my motherboard i found an overclocking utility on their webiste so i use that. You should look on Abits website and see if thier is one for your board. If you ask i am overclocking a 2.40Ghz celeron and it is hapily running at 2.90 GHz normally at around 42 degrees celcius

If you don't see any multiplier fields, then your processor is locked. You'll need to overclock using the FSB only. No prob, overclocking is all about FSB anyway. Have you read Tin Canary's Guide?
