Is this a good printer? For the price? link

Sold out.

I'd trust a HP1012 a lot more, but it's not anywhere near that cheap.

I was planning to get it from the store, they still have some in stock.
Yeah, for this purchase I'm looking for something cheap, I was just going to make sure it isn't all bad.

Well, I got that printer yesterday and it's a great little thing. For that price It's awsome. At 21ppm it's also faster than the HP1012 but the hp might have other features or specs that I overlooked but I needed something cheap and I am extremly satisfied.

Looks like they removed it from their site becuase they didn't have any in the warehouse anymore, only in the stores. It was the Konica Minolta 1350W.

laser is the way to go. *home* lasers are very popular cause noone wants to pay for inkjet cartridges.

Cuz the ink cartridges always seems to be empty. Lasers also look like they could last longer because and are better built because it isn't lugging something around(ink cartridges) and the movement of the page is soomth in a laser rather than jerky. Not that inkjet printers don't last long enough, cuz of the 4 I've had, they all worked great till i needed a faster or better quality one.

Not really - HP's have a long reliability record and they can be repaired when they do break. Other bottom end brands tend to be throwaway printers. I have no idea whether the one you got is a well made printer, but I know the Samsung/Brother lasers in that price range are junk. They print well until they screw up, then it's cheaper to throw it away and replace it than to fix it because you can't get parts. HP's are easy to get parts for.

I don't think Apple ever made their own printers - all the Apple lasers I've seen have been rebadged HP's, which means they are top quality. The actual laser engine is made by Canon, arguably the best out there.

Are you saying that all of HP's laser printer's engines are made by Canon?

No, but most of them are. They also have a few models with Konica engines. Some Brothers also use Canon engines.
