thermal paste

i was wondering if any of you could give me an explaination of how to put thermal paste on. or i was thinking about buying a new heatsink do they come with the thermalpaste pad them on them or do u have to buy thermalpaste for it. and if i do should i remove the thermal paste off my cpu because i had to remove the stock one and only a little bit got on it so there is a gap were there is no thermalpaste
would theese fit a amd64 3500 sicket939 and my abit av8 guru motherboard

wpudl those heat sinks work also i dotn understand what u use to clean it with i read u could with a creditcard? idk hwat to wash it with

will thoose heatsinks fit cause i want it order one soon and the thermal paste that comes with it should be fine rite?
