fan speed control

What I want to do is slow down my rear 92mm fan, but I don't want to plug it into the mobo or get one of those speed controllers that goes in the 5.25 bays. I noticed the fanmates but I don't think you can use those on any fan. Is there anything else like a fanmate that I can use?

Thanks

Well, I am not familiar with FanMate, but SpeedFan should be the software you're looking for.
But you have to plug the fan you wanna control to the motherboard.

why dont u wanna connect it to the mobo? that way its much more safer (in case the speeds decrase or the fan fails). i had a fan w/o mobo connection and when it failed, i didnt know about it. luckily it was my 133MHZ CPU fan

Mother board case fan connector is generally good for one fan.

What type of motherboard do you have? Usually there are 2 different plug-ins for 1 CPU fan and 1 case fan.

You should have a 3-pin fan plug-in on each side of your socket. 1 is for the CPU fan and the other is for a case fan. They should be at the top of the motherboard just about.

You could try the 7 volt trick.
