Unhappy XP pro Upgrade Problems with Keboard and Mouse

Hello everyone,

I'm upgrading to XP pro and my mouse and keyboard do not work, my installation is stuck because it's asking me for a sound driver and can't get it or navigate thru the installation with the keyboard or mouse...
any ideas?

thanks

Are they usb or something?? What are you upgrading from?? I assume they worked before the upgrade and have you made hardware changes or is this a pure software upgrade?

upgrading from XPHome, the mouse and keyboard are ps/2 type...the mouse and keyboard work at startup...i'm upgrading from the cd rom at boot...not while the system is running...

I used to have that problem until I enabled something having to do with usb in the Bios. Come to think of it I might updated my bios to fix it. I had an older Dell computer when I had that problem. I would think most new motherboards would have usb enabled already.
