Hi, I have a IBM deskstar hard drive that the controler has failed on.The drive spins up fine ,but is not reconized.MY question is can the circiut board be changed? It appears it is made so it can ,but I never tried that before. There is one email address that I would like to recover off that failed drive. thanks for any advice.

I've seen that work. You will need a controller board from an essentially identical drive.

Thanks for the response glc. thats what I figured. Since a lot of drives fail for mechanical reasons ,someone has one,the problem is finding it !!!! .I just like to experiment to see what can,and can not be fixed. Thanks again Walt
