Is This An 80 Wire Cable Or A 40 Wire Cable?
Could someone please click the link below to see the photo and tell me if this cable is an 80 wire cable or a 40 wire cable?
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/whazzz...&.dnm=b775.jpg I assume that the white wires are ground wires and that every other wire on an 80 wire cable is a ground. Last edited by whazzzdat; 02-26-2005 at 01:05 AM. |

80 wire cable select type. See where it says ATA100/133 on it? You are holding the master end there, the other end goes on the controller. Jumper your drives to CS.

Thanks GLC, that is how it is set. I just unplugged it from the HDD to take the photo.
The cable has a connection for another HDD that I do not need and it is about twice as long as it needs to be. Could I improve my computer's preformance any if I change it to a shorter cable with only one HDD connector? |

I've read somewhere about trying to keep the cables shorter then 24 inches I think for fear of data loss or something like that.... I've never had a problem with my 24" cables.
